Lights, lights, lights!
![]() |
We're maybe running a little early with this, but better than late! Once the nights draw in, we'll all be looking at light options for night riding - plus with several enduro/24 hour events still to run, nightriding is more and more of a year round idea anyway!
So, we've got new ranges from Hope and Light and Motion to talk through, plus some clearout offers on older models!
All light orders also get the chance to win a Garmin Nuvi 1310 GPS - just add this product to your basket and we'll add you to the draw, which will be announced on November 15th. This offer is also included with shop light purchases too!
Light and Motion
Matt H has been running a Seca 900 for around 18months - he's been suggesting we stock Light and Motion because of how impressed he's been. The race mode (more on that in a bit) is a particular fave.
Light and Motion only offer lighting, designed and assembled in house in Monterey, California. The other market they work in is diving lights - so they know a thing or two about keeping the wet out!
All Light and Motion lights are quoted on ACTUAL output, so you know exactly what you're getting from the model name (Stella 300 is 300 lumens, Solite 150 is 150 lumens etc) A lot of work goes into the beam pattern design, so that the light goes where it matters, not up into the sky!
Light and Motion SECA 1400
The SECA range features 6led head units, with a large rechargeable Lithium Ion battery to power them.

- Includes bar+helmet mounts
- RRP £450
- ours £405

Light and Motion SECA 800
The SECA 800 is the more reasonable of the two models - considering the top model was previously the Seca 900, that should give an idea of how much lighting technology moves on. the 800 replaces the previous 700, but is cheaper (Seca 700 was £350) and with 100 lumens more output!
- Standard mode (Toggle between Hi/Med/Lo/Flash)
- Race mode (Toggle between Hi/Lo only)
- Hi Mode - 800 lumens, 2 hours
- Medium Mode - 400 lumens, 4 hours
- Low Mode - 200 lumens, 8 hours

Light and Motion Stella 300
If you're after something less powerful (cheaper!) or as backup/helmet light use then maybe the Stella will suit. We can see MTB nightriders using this as a helmet light on the MTB, alongside road/commute use - get extra value out of it! Stella uses a smaller, single LED head to keep things light and simple.
- Standard mode (Toggle between Hi/Med/Lo/Flash)
- Race mode (Toggle between Hi/Lo only)
- Hi Mode - 300 lumens, 2 hours 45 minutes
- Medium Mode - 150 lumens, 5 hours 30 minutes
- Low Mode - 75 lumens, 11 hours
- Includes bar+helmet mounts
- RRP £200 (last years Stella 300 was £225)
- ours £180

Light and Motion Solite 150
Here in the Peak District, we see a lot of demand for products that can be used for other outdoor pursuits - climbing/camping and the like. In the case of lights, we reckon the Solite 150 offers the best versatility we've seen.
- Toggle between Hi/Med/Low
- Hi Mode - 150 lumens, 3 hours
- Medium Mode - 75 lumens, 6 hours
- Low Mode - N/A, 40 hours
- Works as headstrap mounted, helmet mounted, bar mounted, torch or standalone (clip the head onto the battery) - all mounts included
- USB rechargeable
- RRP £150
- ours £135
- IN STOCK NOW - click here to order
Light and Motion Urban 300
For those wanting a bright all-in-one unit for the road/commute bike, the Urban 300 should be perfect. USB charging, decent side visibility and a simple bar clamp, very neat indeed.
- Toggle between Hi/Med/Low
- Hi Mode - 300 lumens, 2 hours
- Medium Mode - 150 lumens, 4 hours
- Low Mode - 75 lumens, 8 hours
- Battery status indicator
- Bar mounted
- RRP £130
- ours £117
- DUE MID SEPT - see here for more details or contact us to discuss!
Hope Vision lighting
We've got a longstanding history with Hope, as one of their tech shops, so it was obvious to run their range again, especially as they have 2 new models this year - although not in stock just yet! To make way, they're clearing stock of the previous 2 LED and 4 LED models at VERY good prices.
2 LED is now £165, on offer at 10% off that too!
4 LED is now £225 and we've got 10% off that too!
Hope R4 LED
- New head unit is smaller and brighter than the previous 4 LED, cheaper too!
- 1500 lumen output (1000 actual, according to Hope)
- other details TBC, but we're guessing the same mounting options (helmet, bar and headstrap) as the previous 2 LED and 4 LED models
- RRP £250
- ours £225
- DUE END AUGUST - details and a photo over here!
Hope R8 LED
The R8 is the big daddy from Hope for 2011/2012 - using a whopping 8 LEDs and for a (quoted) 2000lumens max output. We're still awaiting details/photos on this - hopefully hear more on that over the next 2 weeks.
- ?? lumen output (2000 actual, according to Hope)
- other details TBC, but we're guessing the same mounting options (helmet, bar and headstrap) as the previous 2 LED and 4 LED models
- RRP £450
- ours £405
- DUE MID SEPT - click here for details
