Bike Medicine EP Ultra Chain Lube (120ml)

Purple Extreme is our favourite chain lube here at 18, but we’re primarily an off road/mountain bike shop.  EP Ultra is the other chain lube from Bike Medicine, leaning more towards the road side of things.  We’re now acting as UK distributor for both Purple Extreme and EP Ultra, so please get in touch if you’re a shop that would like to get some stock!

Just like Purple Extreme, EP Ultra features a high pressure additive to give proper protection against chain wear.  This is held within a solvent carrier designed to evaporate, leaving a drier running chain with minimal dirt and grime build up.

EP Ultra is designed to last even longer between applications than Purple Extreme, perhaps at a slight trade off to how well it deals with muck and dirt.  Our advice would be to go for Purple Extreme for anything off road or really dirty, but EP Ultra for the road bike.

EP Ultra is best applied to a clean chain and given time for the carrier solvent to evaporate.  This will give you the cleanest running chain and the best chance of long chain life.  If you apply it to a dirty chain, then the solvent will also act to clean any existing grime - a wipe with a rag to clear any excess is a big help. In drier and cleaner conditions this may be sufficient. We’d always recommend a proper degrease and applying to a clean chain wherever possible though!
