Bike Medicine Purple Extreme Chain Lube (120ml)

Purple Extreme is what we’d describe as a “dry” lube - a lubricant with a carrier solvent that evaporates off, leaving a film of the important lubricant behind.  In the case of Purple Extreme, this includes an extreme pressure additive that gives a high film strength - a lubricant that isn’t easily squeezed out of the rollers of the chain.  Despite going on like a dry lube, Purple Extreme deals well with wet and dirty conditions too - without the sticky mess and grinding paste of a conventional wet lube.  We use Purple Extreme year round on mountain bikes, gravel bikes, road bikes, e bikes - everything!

Purple Extreme is best applied to a clean chain and given time for the carrier solvent to evaporate.  This will give you the cleanest running chain and the best chance of long chain life.  If you apply it to a dirty chain, then the solvent will also act to clean any existing grime - a wipe with a rag to clear any excess is a big help. In drier and cleaner conditions this may be sufficient. We’d always recommend a proper degrease and applying to a clean chain wherever possible though!
